Welcome to the website of Holy Rood Church, Swinton, in the Diocese of Manchester.

Work began on the first church building back in 1865 and ever since then Holy Rood Church and the adjacent Memorial Hall have played a busy and active part in the life of the local community.

Today, there is lots happening in and around Holy Rood, with a whole range of social activities to suit all ages and interests, as well as chances to explore Christian faith and spirituality.
Please do browse our website, following the links on the left of the page to discover the full range of activities on offer.

We do hope that you find our pages interesting and that you might be able to spend some time with us at any one of our services throughout the week.

If you have any questions or comments, please let us know by using the 'Contact us' link on the left. We would love to hear from you.

You are welcome to come along and join us whatever your age, whatever your background, a visitor from another parish or church tradition; a newcomer to church or the idea of church; an enquirer; a doubter; a struggler with life's complexities; someone who is thinking about coming back to church after a while; or just someone who wants simply to come and sit quietly with their own thoughts.

We all need reminding from time to time that it is good to spend time together; or in peaceful reflection; or to come to understand more fully that God never tires of enjoying our company and hearing from us.

Above all I trust you will find our Holy Rood community welcoming and our church a place of peace, solitude, prayer, hope and of love.

In Matthew's Gospel Jesus says "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest".

If, you feel you need a 'rest' for whatever reason then we would love to hear from or see you at Holy Rood. If you don't feel ready to join us in person just yet, you are welcome to join our active and growing Facebook community.

Reverend Dorothy (Dot) Fair.
